She created a community of 75+ women coming from all levels and age groups of society connected through the curious world of crochet. When Marthe bought a bag from the crochet club her grandmother led, she discovered that many friends wanted that same bag. She not only recognised the opportunity to connect supply and demand but (more importantly) an opportunity to help out a vulnerable group in our society. People of age often become more socially isolated, leading to loneliness, depression, and other mental and physical health problems.
This all led to MARIE MARIE Amsterdam. Vibrant designer crochet products that also support elderly people (and everyone else who likes to crochet) to stay connected to a community of like-minded people. Bags of Marie Marie Amsterdam can be found at de Bijenkorf, Anna + Nina, and several wholesalers across Europe. But it doesn't stop there. Marthe dreams big and is actively expanding her crochet community while working on a wholesale supply chain for the near future. We are proud to support Marie Marie Amsterdam with a digital strategy on Shopify.
